Ironhand was started several years ago when two recluses decided to start writing music together. Jarod Summers started writing experimental electronic music inspired by the German Industrial scene, and Dan Thompson joined after the completion of the first works. Annoyed with the genre's constant use of stock samples and instruments, we started using power tools and various machinery for our percussion. Prior to the release of "The Sinner King, Dan Thompson left on hiatus to serve overseas in the United States Marine Corps, including in Iraq, Afganistan, Korea, and Japan. He is returning to work on upcoming albums, starting with 'thorns: the postmortumn', to be debuted on winter's solstice 2009, for free as always and as it should be.
"Our sound is often malicious, always eccentric. With the band's roots in electro-industrial and goth music, today Ironhand defies accurate categorization, composing music ranging from soft, quiet, orchestral pieces to full-out maniacal unholy war. The sound is set apart by their use of cancerous whispers, symphonic instruments, and a full arsenal of nailguns and power tools in lieu of traditional drums. Early albums reflected a deep, violent, anti-theistic sentiment, while recent works are about the will to grow, surpassing those that came before, and horrific scenes of violence and sadism."
